Is it over am I dead

Noor

"Please, spare them. Please, don't harm them," my Papa's voice quivered as he pleaded, My eyes widened watching in horror as they reduced my father to a pathetic, begging shell of himself. My heart bled at the sight of him, a man who had never bowed to anyone but God, now forced to kneel and beg for our lives. The rage and helplessness consumed me, twisting my insides until I thought I would burst.

I tried to resist, to fight back against the cruel men restraining me, but they were like towering giants, overpowering my every move. Despite my best efforts and fierce fighting spirit, I was no match for them. As the leader slowly advanced towards my brother, a chill crept down my spine, a sense of impending dread filling the air.

I couldn't bear to witness any more violence, any more humiliation. The mere thought of my father on his knees, begging for me, tore at my soul. I would rather meet my end than see him suffer in such a way. My mind raced with desperation as the man drew a gleaming knife from its sheath, a menacing glint in his eyes.

The world stood still as the blade hovered dangerously close to my brother, a cruel smile playing on the man's lips. My body trembled with fear and fury as I braced myself for the nightmare about to unfold.

"I am well aware of your deep affection for your children, Raja saheb. So, I shall slay your son before your very eyes, and your lovely daughter... ah, she is truly a sight to behold. She shall accompany us as a token of gratitude for this task," he declared with a sinister grin.

"Leave them be! They are innocent children. Take my life instead," my father demanded, his voice a mixture of defiance and anguish.

The man seized Adhvik, my dear brother, by the jaw and forced the glinting blade against his tender throat.

Oh, God, no! The sheer terror and despair washed over me like a tidal wave, leaving me paralyzed with horror and helplessness.

A deep, raw emotion, unlike any I had ever experienced, engulfed my being, extinguishing all light from my existence as I bore witness to the horrifying sight of my brother's throat being callously slit open.

In a split second, memories of my brother flooded my mind - him comforting me at Mom's funeral, picking out gifts to bring a smile to my face, sharing jokes to lift my spirits. The recollections drained the color from my cheeks as I watched his lifeblood spill from his neck, painting a crimson canvas of horror before me.

A guttural scream tore from my throat, reverberating through the room, as the merciless killer moved on to my father, repeating the same brutal act. With a surge of adrenaline, I launched myself into a desperate fight, fueled by every ounce of strength within my trembling frame.

Merely an hour before, we had been bickering like any other siblings, our father attempting to maintain peace amidst our quarrels.

Flashback

"Noor, watch out, you might slip,โ€ Papa warned, his voice filled with a mix of concern and amusement. โ€œAdhvik, youโ€™re practically a king act like one. Sheโ€™s your little sister, let her have a bit more of the ice cream. Youโ€™re too old for these kiddie fights,โ€ he chided us, trying to bring peace to our silly squabble.

โ€œBut papa, itโ€™s always her, her, her! Just because sheโ€™s the little one doesnโ€™t mean she gets all the good stuff. Thatโ€™s my favorite ice cream, and I want the biggest piece,โ€ Adhvik grumbled, his face all scrunched up in a mock sulk.

โ€œIโ€™m the youngest, so I get the perks! Papa's got my back, right, papa?โ€ I teased, poking my tongue out at Adhvik. With the ice cream prize in hand, I took off running. โ€œYouโ€™ll have to be faster than that to catch me, bhai! This ice cream is mine!โ€

I was giggling and dodging through the hallways until I crashed into a mysterious figure dressed in black from head to toe. โ€œWho are you, and why are you sneaking around our palace? Guards! Guards!โ€ I yelled, but it was like they had all vanished. My heart was racing, and I could feel myself starting to shake. Suddenly, Adhvik was there, stepping in front of me, his usual teasing self replaced by a protective brother. โ€œStay behind me, Noor,โ€ he said firmly, shielding me with his body.

Before we could even process the situation, the stranger made a move, and everything turned into chaos. It was so fast, so intense, that it felt like a storm had hit us out of nowhere and what happened next you all know) "

Flashback end

Overwhelming sadness and despair filled me, weighing me down heavily. Collapsing to my knees, I couldn't bear the pain. Despite thinking of myself as strong, I couldn't look at my father and brother's bodies with blood flowing freely.

"We'll enjoy you princess ," he said before choking me. I panicked and struggled against him, my body fighting like a cornered animal.

With terror in my eyes, I knew death was near. Gasping for air, my body grew weak and my eyes filled with tears as I closed them, consumed by hatred for him.

Is it over am I dead

MIN-HO

"Let's get the fuck outta here," I growl to Dae-jung, shooting a disdainful glance at the drug dealer we got under our thumb.

Running this Mafia has been one goddamn clusterfuck after another. For the past five years, my main job's been to spread terror to my enemies and solidify our alliances.

Dae-jung, my loyal right-hand man, has been riding shotgun with me every single damn day during these past five years. Yeah, he's my bodyguard, but let's be real here, I don't need him to play babysitter.

No, he ain't just some muscle. He's way more - Dae-jung's my partner, my brother for another mother. He's the only son of a bitch on this goddamn Earth I trust, next to my own blood.

leaning against the armed SUV, I couldn't help but let out a sarcastic sigh as my gaze locked on the Italian prick. This guy was tougher than a goddamn cockroach, I'll give him that much.

"You reckon he's gonna spill the beans?" Dae-jung asks as he shifts the gear into drive.

"I'll make him sing like a canary," I reply, taking a swig of my coffee.

As if leading the Mafia wasn't already one big clusterfuck, now we got a bunch of wannabe wiseguys trying to muscle in on our turf. They had the balls to encroach on our territory, those idiots.

Everyone knows to stay out of my territory

"We are home, Min," Dae-jung quips after sliding our ride into the parking spot.

As I step out of the SUV, heading towards home, a familiar figure zips towards me - none other than my baby sis, Ha-na. She rushes over and wraps me in a bear hug.

"Aww, missed you too, little angel," I tease, planting a quick peck on her forehead.

"Why've you been ghosting me for three years, Oppa? Missed you like crazy," Ha-na pouts as she pulls away.

"Sorry, lil angel. No excuses, just apologies. Forgive me, huh?" I plead while playfully covering my ears.

"Don't sweat it, Oppa. I know you've been caught up with the Mafia antics. No harm, no foul," Ha-na reassures, taking my hands away from my ears with a grin.

"Hey there, Hana, fancy a hug for your long-lost brother, or am I ancient history to you now?" Dae-jung playfully teases, pulling a comical grimace.

"How could I ever forget you? You're my top pick for a brother!" Hana retorts, wrapping Dae-jung in a warm embrace.

"Come on, Hana, give your brothers a chance to step foot inside," Mom calls from indoors, chiming in on the sibling banter.

"Time to head in, lil Angel. I'm starving," I chime in, leading the way as we all make our way indoors for some much-needed grub.

"Min-ho, what's the deal? Ignoring your dad's calls?" Dad quips as we gather around the dinner table.

"Sorry, Dad, got caught up with some stubborn dude we nabbed last week. Wouldn't spill a damn word," I explain before yelping, "Ouch! Jin uncle, why'd you smack me?"

"Careful with the choice of words, punk. No matter your age, you're still a kid around here," Jin uncle reprimands with a mouthful of food, while I rub the spot where he playfully swatted me.

"Min-ho, we got the scoop on that tricky bas... Ouch! Jin hyung, seriously? I'm too old for this butt-kicking routine. When are you gonna give it a rest? The kids are staring!" Taehyung uncle protests with a playful pout.

I know what you're thinking, but believe me, these guys were top-notch mafias in their day, and they still have my back whenever I need 'em.

Dad and the Uncles are like a tight-knit crew, leading the underworld back in the day before I stepped up. The Mafia game runs in my blood, with Dad passing the reins to me when the time came.

For the past five years, I've put my blood, sweat, and tears into building a reputation for myself. Back in the day, folks shivered at the mere mention of my family name. But now? Grown men quake in their boots because they know there's no escaping the long arm of my retribution. Conscience is a luxury for the weak, so if anyone dares to cross me, I'll hunt them down without mercy. I won't hesitate to mete out punishment, be it through brutal force or deadly precision, to anyone foolish enough to stand against me.

"Hey there, Min-ho! Are you even listening to me, son?" said Uncle Taehyung, trying to catch my attention while wearing a big grin.

"I apologize, Uncle. My mind was elsewhere. What did you say?" I inquired between bites of my favorite dish.

"I've spoken with the leader of that gang. They're seeking a peace treaty. It's your call how we proceed," Uncle Taehyung murmured.

"Their chance evaporated the moment they trespassed into my territory. We'll meet them, go through the motions of negotiation, and then we'll end them. It's as straightforward as that," I declared assertively as I nonchalantly took another mouthful of food.

"Okay, Taehyung, relay the message. We'll arrange to meet them on Saturday. I'll inform Hoseok to prepare his team. Min-ho and I will attend the meeting as usual," Uncle Jin said with a stern expression.

"And what about me?" Dae-jung piped up, crossing his arms in a mock pout.

"Seriously, when was the last time you leave Min-ho alone in, Dae-jungah?" Mom teased, flashing a smile that warmed the room.

"Hmm, I guess I've been stuck to him like glue ever since I became his bodyguard, Aunt Yuna," Dae-jung quipped with a playful grin.

"Then why even bother asking, Dae-jung?" Dad chimed in with a chuckle.

"Alright, enough business talk, Mr. Jeon. Let's all just enjoy our meal in peace," Mom interjected, and as always, the chatter quieted down as everyone dug into their food.

Even though we strike fear into others, in this household, it's Mom and Uncle Jin who command our respect.

Uncle Jin, because he's the eldest among us and practically raised all of us.

And Mom? Oh, everyone worships the ground she walks on in this place, especially Dad. He's completely smitten with her. Their love story is just so darn cute. Uncle Jin used to entertain us with tales of their romance when we were little. I remember wishing for a love story like theirs when I was a kid.
